7 Reasons Why Leicester Mass is a good place to buy a home

Affordable Housing: Compared to some of the more expensive areas in Massachusetts, Leicester offers more affordable housing options, making it attractive to first-time homebuyers or those looking for a lower cost of living.

Proximity to Major Cities: Leicester’s location near Boston and its direct proximity to Worcester create a unique advantage for residents. This positioning offers easy access to urban amenities, abundant job opportunities, and a rich cultural scene, all while allowing residents to savor the comforts of a suburban or rural lifestyle.

Community and Quality of Life: Leicester is known for its strong sense of community and small-town charm. The area offers a peaceful and relaxed environment, suitable for families or individuals seeking a quieter life away from the bustling city.

Education: Few cities of similar size can rival Worcester’s exceptional concentration of world-class colleges. This vibrant city boasts 8 colleges within its boundaries, with an additional half-dozen others located in neighboring communities. For further details, you can explore The Higher Education Consortium of Central Massachusetts.

Natural Beauty: The town is surrounded by lots of open spaces, including lakes, parks, and outdoor recreational areas. If you enjoy nature and outdoor activities, Leicester might be a good fit.

Potential for Appreciation: While real estate markets can be unpredictable, areas that undergo growth and development tend to witness greater appreciation in real estate value over time, presenting a promising opportunity for a return on investment. There is plenty of room for growth in the area. What makes Leicester and points west valuable is their lower priced inventory.

Low Crime Rate: Leicester typically has a lower crime rate compared to larger cities, offering a safer living environment for residents.

Owning a home comes with various benefits including:

  1. Equity Building: Instead of paying rent, homeowners build equity with each mortgage payment
  2. Stability: You have a place that you can call your own and the freedom to make it your own.
  3. Tax benefits: Homeownership often brings tax advantages such as deducting mortgage interest and property taxes.
  4. A sense of belonging to a community: Leicester is a great place to foster connections with neighbors and the entire community, contributing to a greater sense of community involvement.
  5. Remember that the perception of a “good place” to buy a home can vary depending on individual preferences, personal circumstances, and market conditions. It’s essential to conduct thorough research, visit the area, and consult with a local real estate expert before making any decisions.

The worst part about buying here is what water sewer district you end up buying into. The water sewer districts are all subscriber owned. Cherry Valley Sewer District was on the verge of bankruptcy and has one of the highest sewer rates ever. The good news the buyer is not made aware of any of this and they don’t find out until after they purchased in Leicester

I would definately disclose that info to s buyer. I live in the valley and while the water and sewer rates are high the taxes are low. Its kind of a wash.
