Spencer’s historical past includes the town as a major stop for the Old Boston Post Road’s stage route connecting the area with Boston, Hartford and beyond. George Washington and Henry Knox also passed through Spencer on their way to defend Boston in 1775. The monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey occupy hundreds of acres of land in town and offer a quiet sanctuary for thoughtful meditation.
Every year the town of Spencer hosts the Spencer Fair. This weekend event is a typical New England fall venue and offers lots of food and many entertainment opportunities. It is very well attended.

Several major lakes and ponds are also located in the town, including Stiles Reservoir, Thompson Pond, and Lake Whittemore. All of them offer fine recreational opportunities for public use. As typical with Massachusetts real estate, the further west you travel from Boston the lower prices you will find.
Spencer Ma. real estate offers many opportunities for single family home buyers and investors alike. I find the towns placement offers many benefits for purchasers looking to save a little money. The community is welcoming and the town has more services available than most towns its size.
