Hubbardston Ma. Real Estate Information
The Town of Hubbardston is in the hill country of central Worcester County. It is located 20 miles north of Worcester and is home to the Hubbardston Flea market. The flea market is one of the largest in the area. I enjoy visiting Hubbardston in the fall, and find the area to be a great way to spend the day. Several farms dot the landscape of Hubbardston. High Meadow Farm is a great organic option located in the town. If you are organically minded it is a good source for a decent selection of fruits and meats. The Country Hen Farm is another option, and offers organic eggs.
Outdoor activities abound for the horse enthusiasts. Wish-Me-Luck Stables offers a relaxing environment for all types of riders. Mt. Wachusett, a lovely option, is located very close to the town, and offers many year round activities. I have taken in many of their fall festivals, and love the view from the top of the mountain. Several hiking trails from Hubbardston offer access to the mountain.
The first European settlers were recorded in 1737 and the town’s early economy was based on agriculture and some industry that included chair and shoe manufacturing. Hubbardston was sympathetic to Shays Rebellion and one of the leaders of the rebellion.
The main highway in the area is Route 2 which runs across northern Massachusetts. Route 140 and 190 connect the area to Worcester.
Hubbardston is part of the Quabbin Regional School District which serves Barre, Hardwick, Hubbardston, New Braintree and Oakham. The town is also part of the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School District in Fitchburg.
