Westminster Ma. Real Estate Information
Westminster is a rural community located about 23 miles north of Worcester along the Fitchburg border. It was founded in 1733 and settled in 1737, and served as an outpost during the French and Indian War. In the early part of the 1900’s many town workers made chairs and manufactured paper while immigrants new to America settled on farms devoting themselves to an agricultural existence. Wachusett Mountain is visible from many areas of town and lies only 6 miles away. Travel in the area is accommodated by the use of Routes 2, 140, and 190 which provide easy access out of the area.
The Midstate Trail that runs across Massachusetts from north to south passes through Westminster. It is a scenic footpath that extends 95 miles from the Rhode Island Border to New Hampshire. It is very accessible and easy to hike.
The town beach at Crocker Pond is a great way to spend a hot summer afternoon. The recreation area includes places to cook and nice picnic areas to enjoy.
Johnny Appleseed Country is a consortium of businesses and towns that promote the areas of Northern Massachusetts. They have a website and a great marketing program which includes a calendar of events. There is more than enough things for any individual or family to enjoy. After finding this hidden gem I plan on visiting the area more frequently. The trail itself is the road system along Route 2 called the Mohawk Trail” which was once used by Native Americans in the area. The Johnny Appleseed Country is well worth looking into. The visitor center is located on the westbound side of Route 2 in Lancaster.
The town is part of the Ashburnham Westminster Regional School District and part of the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School in Fitchburg.
